Alpha-Stim Praised in USA Today Expert Panel on Opioid Crisis
USA Today recently sponsored a panel of experts in the field of substance abuse to share their insights on the nation’s ongoing opioid crisis, including a discussion of innovative solutions. Expert panelist Dr. Javier Francisco Vilasuso*, of Florida’s Anesthesia Pain Care Consultants, spoke about technological innovations that can be utilized for pain management and to combat the overuse of and reliance on dangerous medications.

Dr. Vilasuso discussed the use of the Alpha-Stim as a “nonmedicinal way to aid in relieving pain, anxiety, insomnia, and depression.” Dr. Vilasuso’s trust in Alpha-Stim when treating patients at Anesthesia Pain Care Consultants is a testament to its effectiveness: “We have utilized this device on many of our most challenging opiate dependent patients and have seen promising results. Most patients are finding that they need less opiate medication to control their pain. They also mention that their stress levels are much improved.”

Alpha-Stim is non-addictive and bears no risk of lasting side effects. What sets Alpha-Stim even farther apart from drugs is its cumulative effect. With most medications, patients must take ever higher doses to attain the same results, due to the body adapting to the drugs. Alpha-Stim, on the other hand, becomes more effective over time – patients who at first need daily treatments may find that they are able to taper down to a few treatments per week, or only as symptoms dictate.

Pain relief is long-lasting and often occurs immediately. Alpha-Stim is FDA cleared and has been proven effective in over 100 clinical studies. In a study of severe pain patients, Alpha-Stim significantly reduced pain by an average of 71% after only 5 treatments. Patients who are in pain may fear that there is no alternative to opiates, that their suffering is unending, that the reduction in prescription drugs means nothing but continued discomfort and stress. But Alpha-Stim is a safe, effective, and easy to use treatment that brings lasting results.

Cranial Electrotherapy Stimulation and Microcurrent Electrical Therapy
At Brownback, Mason, and Associates we seek to offer alternative approaches to manage individual challenges with anxiety, depression, insomnia, and chronic pain. In addition to traditional therapies, our therapists are trained in Cranial Electrotherapy Stimulation, or CES, and Microcurrent Electrical Therapy, or MET.

Cranial Electrotherapy Stimulation can be an effective treatment for anxiety, depression, and/or insomnia. CES uses electromedical technology to generate a unique waveform that helps the body’s cells return to their natural state of functioning in a safe and pain-free way. With as little as using the Alpha-Stim 20 minutes per day, many individuals will begin to experience symptom relief within a few weeks and once the condition is under control, daily usage can transition to a maintenance schedule.

Cranial Electrical Therapy has both residual and cumulative effects. This means that relief occurs not only while you are doing the treatment but also while you resume daily functioning. With daily use of the Alpha-Stim many individuals see relief from their symptoms of anxiety, depression, and/or insomnia with little to none of the side effects common with pharmaceutical treatments. This means you can continue to do the things that are important to you.

Microcurrent Electrical Therapy (Alpha-Stim M) is a form of electromedical technology that uses a low level of current for pain management. Unlike a transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulator (TENS unit), MES effects are long lasting and cumulative with treatments as short as 5 minutes. Like CTE, there are also little to no side effects.

Cranial Electrotherapy Stimulation or Cranial Electrical Therapy coupled with research based clinical approaches to anxiety, depression, insomnia, and chronic pain help many individuals see dramatic symptom reduction. At Brownback, Mason, and Associates we help bring evidence-based best practices to those in need.
